Basti Treatment in Panchakarma

Basti is an important Ayurvedic Panchakarma therapy, commonly known as a medicated enema. It mainly helps balance Vata Dosha. However, Ayurvedic practitioners also use certain Basti treatments to address Pitta and Kapha Doshas.

Moreover, Basti does more than support the body’s natural cleansing process. Practitioners also use it to deliver medicines into the body. In addition, Ayurveda traditionally describes Basti as having aphrodisiac properties.

Basti may also help strengthen people who have become weak or underweight. Similarly, practitioners may recommend specific Basti treatments to support weight management in people with obesity.
