Uttarbasti treatment
Uttarbasti treatment is the type of basti panchakarma treatment. In this procedure, medicated ghee or oils or decoction is inserted in the uterus or bladder.
For females, Uttarbasti is recommended for infertility, PCOD, Uterine fibroid, fallopian tube blockages, Uterine polyps, less endometrial thickness, and menstrual cramps.
In males, Uttarbasti is recommended for urethral stricture, obstruction in the urethra, erectile dysfunction, low sperm count, and dystonia of the bladder.
Procedure
Uttarbasti treatment procedure in females is done only on the 4th to 8th day of the menstrual cycle because the mouth of the uterus and cervix is open at that time. In males, Uttarbasti can be done at any time. In day to days practice female uttarbasti procedures are more conducted than in males.
Body detoxification procedures like vaman, virechan, and basti should have to be done before uttarbasti. Local oil massage of the back and thigh is performed then dashmul steam is applied to that part. Lithotomy position gives to the female patient. Local cleaning is done with an antiseptic solution. With the help of a speculum 2 cc medicated ghee or oil or herbal decoction is introduced into the uterine cavity. After that, for 15 minutes female should have to take rest in a supine position. A light diet is also recommended on the same day. Uttarbasti is conducted 3-4 days successively in some patients.
Medicated ghee like phala sarpi, yashti ghrut, etc used in female infertility, less endometrial thickness, and unknown infertility cases. Medicated oils like kshar oil, kasis oil, etc used in fallopian tube block, uterine fibroid, and uterine polyps.
Importance of Uttarbasti
It is the cleansing procedure of the urogenital system.
Uttarbasti helps to maintain normal growth of the ovum, normal growth of endometrial thickness, and rupture of the ovum i.e. ovulation.
All the problems related to the urogenital system are due to vitiated Vata dosha, uttarbasti works on Vata dosha and corrects its functions according to Ayurveda.
Each and every case of infertility is recommended for Uttarbasti.
Uttarbasti gives excellent results to open the blocked fallopian tubes.
Uttarbasti also works in PCOD, uterine fibroids, and uterine polyps cases.
The normal foetal bed creates after uttarbasti and hence continuation of pregnancy is possible.
Uttarbasti also gives results in recurrent abortion.
